c/o 122 Fazeley Street, Birmingham, B5 5RS
All welcome

10am – midday Coffee, badges and banners
Midday onwards: Collective action in Birmingham

Join us for a cuppa as we create slogans and badges ahead of the International Women’s Day (IWD) gathering in the centre of Birmingham. IWD has occurred all over the world for well over a century, with the first being run by the Suffragettes in 1911. You can read more about IWD 2018 HERE.

In the morning we will share coffee and stories, whilst making banners and badges for the march in the centre of Birmingham. Drop in at any time with bits and bobs from home, and we will also provide some basic materials. We will be talking about the different messages we want to stand for – no issue is too big or too small – before joining a rally in Victoria Square.

In solidarity with the Women’s Strike the women at Eastside Projects will either be striking from work or wearing black in solidarity. The Women’s Strike is a strike for solidarity between women – women of colour, indigenous, working class, disabled, migrant, Muslim, lesbian, queer and trans women. This strike extends beyond the paid environment into domestic labour and care.

We recognise that many women may not be able to participate and we will stand in place for our sisters. We also encourage the men in our-lives to join us by standing up for gender equality and supporting the strike. Together we are strong.
